Common questions from students and parents
The focus is SAT Math. Keeping it narrow means every session is taught by someone who scored a 790 on that exact section and raised his own total score 130 points. Algebra I tutoring is also available, since it is the foundation the whole SAT Math section is built on.
A 1510 on the SAT (790 Math, 720 Reading & Writing), a 5 on AP Calculus BC, and a 5 on AP Precalculus. Beyond scores: over a year as a math tutor at Mathnasium, volunteer tutoring at Schoolhouse, and three years of tutoring overall. I am currently a first-year at the University of Virginia studying Math and Commerce.
All sessions are held online and one-on-one, so students can meet from anywhere without travel time cutting into study time.
Tutoring is $45 per hour. One flat rate — no packages to buy, no minimum number of sessions, and no contract.
Each topic follows the same five steps: I teach the content, work through one or two practice questions out loud, then we solve one or two together, then the student tries one entirely on their own. Any leftover questions get answered before moving to the next topic.
Students at any starting point who want a real score improvement rather than another practice test done alone. That includes students in the 500s who need the fundamentals rebuilt — one junior went from a 540 to a 670 — and students already scoring well who want to push into the 700s.
Use the booking calendar to pick a time that works for you — it shows current availability, so there is no back-and-forth over email. If you would rather ask a question first, the contact page and email work too.
